A mixed residential and commercial use development on a large Greenfield site. The area forms part of the North Fringe Action Area Plan which comprises c. 200 hectares incorporating a regional scale park and a train station.
The project involved the design of a range of dwelling types composed in “town blocks” and precincts, served by a new Main Street and Town Centre and with a quality bus corridor linking to a train station. Consideration has been given to Balgriffin as a “piece of town” rather than a segregated suburban housing estate, in order to deliver a model of development very different from that which has dominated our suburbs over the past 50 years.
